24 Hour Disc Golf Charity Marathon

Hi All,

I recently spoke with Chris Himing & Elaine, and we are definitely go for the 24 hour challenge.

Sat July 23rd @ Harding's start 9 AM or when ever you get there :) Finish 9 AM Sunday.

This year will be less grueling, and more festive, unless grueling is your thing.

There will be a mini course. Music. A poker game, and what I am for now calling Disc Golf Hold'em.

Players can come and go, and start and stop playing disc golf as they please over the entire 24 hours, but when you do play, you are encouraged to play what will be match play, hole by hole, for chips you will be given when you sign in. Whether you're on the mini course or the regular one.

Something like this:

Say there are 4 players in a group, on each hole each player will pay a 1 chip ante. After the drive, lead thrower will have a chance to raise the bet, other players can call or fold. Winner of the hole takes the chips, ties are spit pot.

At the end of the whole thing, we'll have a prize for the player with the most chips.

*If you want a players pack before the event, you must send reg before July 1. Otherwise you'll get it a few weeks later.

King of the Lake Recap

This past weekend proved to be quite a challenge for the 79 Men, and 5 Women who came out early Sat. morning to test themselves against the 3 disc golf courses that make up the "KING of the LAKE" tournament. After seeing the gold plated glass sculpted Dragon trophy which is awarded to the overall low score of the 6 divisions, Geoff Lissamen of Grass Valley opened up with a 42 (12 under) at the Truckee River Reg. Park course (low score 1st rd.), followed closely with Jere Eshelman of Truckee, and Mike Loya shooting 44, 45 respectively, Gregg Barsby last years winner of the "KING" shot a 48. Zephry Cove was a bigger task for most of the players Sat. with only 19 out of 84 shooting under 54 for the 2nd rd., Ray John son in the Open div. led all posting a 47 (-7) to move into a tie for 2nd behind Geoff, with Mike then Jere. Then it was on to Bijou Community Park and the 27 hole, short pin layout where birdies are many. In the end it was Jason Herm of Grass Valley who put up the best charge of the day, moving up from 5th, shooting a 68 (-13) to take 2nd place with a 167 (-22) total 1 behind Lissaman?s 166 (-23), followed with Ray Johnson and Mike Loya tied for 3rd.out of the 16 person Open field. Gregg Barsby while having a good start with a 48 (-6) was running out of gas early at Z.C. with nothing in the tank at the end posted a Did Not Finish (in order to preserve his player rating. Somebody remind me why I named an award after him??? Oh well, shit happens). Geoff?s twin brother Johnny took 1st in the Pro Master field of 6 with a 174 (-15) followed by local Matt Eagan 176 (-13) for 2nd, with Jeff Stoops 178 picking up 3rd. Another local Steve Newell tied for 2nd in the 6 man Advanced Master with Howard Miller of Truckee behind John Podany. It was a pretty close day for the Amateur Women until the 3rd rd. when Lorien White shot 8 less strokes than her 2 nearest competitors to give her 1st place followed by Jennifer Molcomb 2nd,and Adrian Boggess for 3rd. In the Intermediate Men division of 18, Brian Eagan took 1st with a 184 followed by Scott Miller 186, Keith Skipper 187, and local Dan Hoffman 188. The Advanced Men field of 34 (1 women) players had some fireworks of their own with ?Napa Crush? boy Jeff Jones getting an ace on his 7th hole (#1) of the first round to lead early on with a 46, but Shea Wendick proved too much in the end when he shot a 70 (-11) at Bijou to come from behind and take 1st place, with a 173 total, followed by Jeff Jones 176, Dave Haning 177, and a tie for 4th between local Arjang Mirzadegan, Levi Kielty 178, and yes the stars were out when all was done.
